Whether you’re hosting Christmas for your family or you’re enjoying the holiday season with friends, your entryway is the first impression guests get when they enter your home.
You may have a grand foyer or you may have a tiny space that barely deserves being called an entry, either way, there are lots of ways you can make an impact in your entryway with beautiful Christmas decor.
Today we’re sharing how to bring holiday cheer into your home with 5 Easy Tips for Decorating a Christmas Entry.
1.WORK WITH WHAT YOU’VE GOT
Take note of how much space you have to work with and plan accordingly. For example, if you have a small entry, you may only have room for wall decor (see some of our faves below). Comparatively, if you have a large foyer, you’ll want to make sure the Christmas decor you choose is of an appropriate scale to ensure that what you create is proportionate to the rest of your home.
2. DETERMINE HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO INVEST
If you’re on a tight budget, you might need to get creative. You can use old Christmas cards as decor, display wrapped presents or use pine cones and branches or other items from nature to save on your Christmas decorating costs.
3.START WITH A GOOD FOUNDATION
A console table or bench provides the perfect base for creating an inviting vignette just inside your entryway. Here are a few of our faves listed below, but you can shop more in our online shop.

4.ADD FESTIVE ACCENTS
Use festive accessories to amp up your Christmas entry decor. Here are some ways we like to decorate our entryways for Christmas.
- Hang a wreath, garland or add mini Christmas trees or poinsettias to bring life to your holiday decor
- Add red, green, sequined or Christmas themed pillows, bows and art for a perfect holiday colour palette
- Incorporate details from nature, wood, snow, branches, winterberries, holly, etc to add texture
- Use string lights or candles to create a cozy ambience
- Add a Christmas scented candle or holiday inspired essential oils to ensure all the senses are considered
When people visit for Christmas, they are coming to see YOU. Make sure your guests feel the essence of you and your family in the decor you choose to welcome them into your home. You can do this by:
- Including Christmas photos of your family
- Incorporating your favourite Christmas colours and/or plants
- Framing the lyrics to your favourite Christmas song or a snippet from a Christmas story you love
- Playing your favourite Christmas playlist
These are just some of the many ways you can decorate your entry for Christmas. Here are some examples we came up with to give you some inspiration.
