As the temperatures start to get a little cooler and life gets even busier with school schedules,
work projects and full family calendars, creating a home that feels warm and inviting often slips
to the bottom of the list. And while your home should feel like a place where you can breathe
and retreat to at the end of the day to restore your energy, it doesn’t always feel that way.
The good news? You don’t need a full redesign to give your space what it needs to start the Fall
season off right. Here are seven quick decorating shortcuts you can use to make your home feel
cozy, stylish and fresh for Fall without taking up too much of your precious time.

RETHINK YOUR LIGHTING
Shorter days call for warmer light. Add candles and lamps or replace cool-toned bulbs with soft
warm ones.

LAYER IN NATURAL ELEMENTS
Bring the outdoors in throughout your home with dried florals or grasses, pinecones or a wood
serving boards/bowls, etc. Choose timeless vessels that work year-round so that you only need
to worry about changing the foliage/stems, etc.

BRING IN TEXTILES FOR WARMTH
Throw blankets, pillows and slipcovers are the fastest way to transition your home for fall. Think
chunky knits, bouclé or velvet in cozy earth tones.

REFRESH YOUR ENTRYWAY
Set the tone for a great first impression not only for family and friends, but you too. It’s the first
area you see when you walk in your home, make sure to style it to emulate the feeling you want
when you come home after a long day. Keep it clutter-free and add a beautiful runner, a vase
with fall foliage, a tray/bowl for keys, beautiful art and décor to get the vibe just right.

ADD SEASONAL SCENTS & SOUNDS
You can also create layers of comfort beyond visuals with fall candles, essential oils or cozy
playlists. Here’s one I created on YouTube Music that helps me relax when I’m feeling
exhausted from a full day.

SWITCH OUT ARTWORK & FRAMES
If you like seasonal art, opt for affordable prints that you can change out throughout the year,
rather than one-of-a-kind art that feels more permanent. Swapping prints or even just changing
the frames is an easy way to bring in seasonal color and personality into your home.
PRO TIP: Etsy has A TON of printable art that is beautiful and super affordable.

SWAP OUT OR LAYER IN RUGS
Swapping out rugs can instantly cozy up a room, but it’s not always feasible or easy if they’re
pinned under heavy furniture. A simple way to add warmth and seasonality to your space is to
layer a smaller rug over an existing one to introduce pattern and color.
PRO TIP: Stick to neutral base rugs and layer affordable seasonal accent rugs for year-round
flexibility.

These seven shortcuts are all about maximum impact with minimal effort. From textiles and
lighting to seasonal scents and decor, you can transform your home into a cozy retreat that’s
