Sometimes, when people reach out to me for design help, it’s because they have a room they like, but it’s missing the qualities that make it feel truly special.

Today, I’m excited to share the reveal of a primary bedroom that was already pretty, but needed a little love to enhance both functionality and design. My clients have refined tastes, but down-to-earth personalities and I wanted their space to reflect that balance of elegance and comfort.
THE BEFORE

THE GOAL
The goal was to design a bedroom that serves as a peaceful retreat where they could sleep, read and occasionally watch TV. It needed to feel calm, relaxed, cozy and comfortable enough that they’d want to spend more time enjoying it.
Additionally, the space had to be beautiful, personal and inviting - a sanctuary where they could cuddle up with their kids for family time.
THE MOOD: Relaxed Beauty
My clients' favorite colors are green and blue, which was the perfect starting point for this design. Psychologically, green provides a sense of calm and comfort, while blue evokes relaxation and tranquility. Adding soft neutrals, warm wood tones and using layered textures helps to enhance a peaceful setting.

MUST KEEP ITEMS
The clients loved their existing bed, so we kept that as the foundation. They also had beautiful wooden nightstands and textured lamps that worked well, but the space needed a little more character to feel complete.
THE DESIGN PLAN
To achieve the perfect balance of comfort and classic beauty, I focused on:
Calming Color Palette: I used a neutral base to give the design longevity, as well as to infuse a sense of natural comfort through the innate groundedness of beige. Then I incorporated blue and green via plants, textiles, artwork and a stunning velvet storage bench to evoke feelings of peace and calm.

Layered Textures: I introduced depth through patterned accent pillows, textured drapery, plush bedding and a soft area rug.
Architectural Interest: The addition of picture molding on the walls elevated the space, bringing in an extra layer of detail and refinement.
Personal Touches: A gallery wall of family photos made the space feel familiar and meaningful.

Functional Beauty: A green velvet storage bench at the foot of the bed provided extra seating for movie and story time while doubling as storage for pillows and blankets.
Bringing Nature Indoors: Thoughtfully placed plants added a fresh, organic element to the room, reinforcing the calming aesthetic.

Intentional Décor: Every item was carefully chosen to be both beautiful and functional, ensuring that the space felt personal and cohesive.
THE RESULT
The transformation turned this primary bedroom into a true retreat—a space where my clients can relax, recharge and enjoy time together as a family. The blend of soft neutrals, rich textures and thoughtful details created a bedroom that is not only stunning but also inviting and deeply personal.
Now, this room is no longer just a place to sleep; it’s a space to unwind, connect and feel completely at home.
