2025 Color of the Year Benjamin Moore

Drumroll please..........Benjamin Moore's 2025 Paint Color of the Year is..........Cinnamon Slate!

Every year, Benjamin Moore highlights a color that speaks to both modern sensibility and beautiful design. This year they've chosen Cinnamon Slate 2113-40.  It's described as having a delicate blend of heathered plum and velvety brown. 

While the violet color family isn’t always my first choice in design, Cinnamon Slate does offer some beautiful possibilities. Its earthy undertones provide neutrality making it more versatile and approachable than typical shades of violet.

Although it works beautifully as a paint color for walls (in the right room), my personal preference is to use it as inspiration for home decor elements. Accent pieces like pillows, art or florals in colors similar to Cinnamon Slate can introduce a rich yet understated pop of color into a space, while allowing more neutral tones on the walls to keep the room balanced and inviting.  

Here are some ideas for how to use Cinnamon Slate in your home in a paint color scheme or as inspiration for home decor.

This Automate art print was the color inspiration for this home paint scheme.  The hints of mauve pair well with Cinnamon Slate.  This is a room that I would actually consider using Cinnamon Slate on the walls.  Warm, saturated colors encourage conversation - which is perfect for a dining room.  When paired with neutral furnishings, Cinnamon Slate would make a beautifully bold statement. Here is an example of how it could look.

This color scheme also took inspiration from artwork. I was immediately drawn to this original art by Lindsay Megahed, Oasis. I thought it was perfect for a restful space, but it was too small at only 10" x 10."  Great for a small wall or on a dresser, but not ideal for a focal point in the room.  Then I found They Cling to the Rock No. 6 by Tyler Guinn and I thought they were a perfect pairing. I pulled the gentle pink and mauve tones from these art pieces to add impact in this color palette and then paired them with soft, subtle neutrals for a calm, comfortable feel. For a romantic vibe, use Cinnamon Slate on the walls.  Here's how it could look.

Art once again inspired this paint color scheme.  In this palette, Cinnamon Slate takes a back seat.  It's merely and subtle accent.  You could add florals, pillows, a throw blanket, etc to incorporate more instances of the color, but I've chosen to lean into neutrals for the main wall colors and used saturated colors like Country Life to make a statement within the furnishings of the space for a sophisticated, classic aesthetic.

As you can see, whether you decide to use it on your walls or as a decor accent, Cinnamon Slate offers an elegant blend of sophistication, romanticism and warmth that can transform any room.  What do you think of it?  Would you use it in your space?  Let me know in the comments.
